For LOC1, I chose my Communication Theory paper from my Introduction to Communication course. This course was designed to outline the basic concepts and theories that are part of the Communication discipline and explain how the theories are relevant to our everyday interactions.

 

Everyone was assigned a specific theory to read further into and find a film that could help explain the components of the theory. This assignment was a way to introduce us to a theory in communication and analyze, on a broader level, the different elements of communication. Given that Communication is such a vast field, understanding the basic theories and concepts is the first step in becoming a communication expert.

 

I was able to explain Uncertainty Reduction Theory and connect it to the film Meet the Parents. This gave me a better understanding of how the theories of communication can be applied to my everyday life and brought me a step closer to becoming a communication professional.
